Smart Reader® Worldwide continues its noble efforts to advocate equal access to quality early childhood education through the presentation of the National One Child One Hope (OCOH) Education Scholarships to fifteen underprivileged children from Yayasan Tuanku Syed Putra. The event took place on 30th March 2018 at Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Perlis.
During the event, Chief Executive Officer of Smart Reader® Worldwide, Dato’ Sri Dr Richard Ong, presented a cheque worth RM 110, 000 to DYTM Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Ibni Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, Raja Muda Perlis who is also the Chairman of Yayasan Tuanku Syed Putra. The contribution composed of financial aid in terms of schooling fees as well as school supplies such as uniforms, shoes, school bags, educational books and other learning materials. These were distributed by Raja Puan Muda Perlis, DYTM Tuanku Hajjah Lailatul Shahreen Dato’ Akashah Khalil together with Group Executive Director of Smart Reader® Worldwide, Datin Sri Dato’ Dr KH Wang .
“It is very crucial that education is attainable by all children throughout the country, regardless of race, creed or upbringing. With the right tools, children can achieve their full potential and ambition.” Datin Sri Dato’ Dr KH Wang said. Dato’ Sri Dr Richard Ong concurred, stating that “Through the OCOH initiative, we aim to provide a platform for children to develop a strong educational foundation. Today, we are very proud of the success and accomplishments achieved by the awardees since its inception in 2008. We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Yayasan Syed Putra for their continuous support for the OCOH programme.”

Partaking in the charity endeavor was Marketing and PR Director of Amee Philips, Mr. Richard Philips, had presented a cheque worth RM 2,000 to Raja Puan Muda Perlis as the Royal Patron of the Association of Professional Early Childhood Providers Malaysia (APECP), in hope of assisting the efforts of the association to improve the quality of young children’s lives through the OCOH Education Scholarship Programme.
The event was enlivened by the launch of a children’s book written by the young prince of Perlis, YAM Syed Sirajuddin Areeb Putra Jamalullail. The book is entitled “My Smart Reader Kids®, My School”, which is a narration of his wonderful experience as a student in Smart Reader Kids® Arau. The introduction of the book was part of The Reading Vision Project, an initiative by Datin Sri Dato’ Dr K H Wang, Group Executive Director of Smart Reader® Worldwide, that provides a platform for children to pen their own creative tales, and in return, receive appreciation for their work through the publication of their original tales. This aims to cultivate the love for reading and writing among the young generation. The guests were further entertained by performances from Smart Reader Kids® Taman Sri Bahagia Kangar and Smart Reader Kids® Jalan Arau-Kodiang. Encik Alias Ayob, franchisee of the centres, explained that these performances represent the wonderful talents of Smart Reader Kids® students. He quoted “We are truly grateful for the continuous support that Smart Reader® Worldwide provides to the underprivileged students of Perlis. The One Child One Hope initiative motivates us to do our best in ensuring we deliver the best education to our children, nurturing them to excel academically, develop outstanding social skills, and as an overall, be able to contribute positively to the community.”
