KUCHING – On 21st September 2019, participants of all ages gathered at Plaza Merdeka, Kuching as they prepared for an exciting walk event held for a good cause.
The planned 3.2km walk around the beautiful Kuching waterfront had to be shifted to alternative indoor-based activities due to unfavourable weather conditions. Nevertheless, parents, educators and children alike had a memorable and enjoyable morning.
The event was graced by Duli Yang Teramat Mulia, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Ibni Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, Raja Muda Perlis. Also present was Yang Berhormat Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth & Sports, who represented Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Zohari Tun Abang Haji Openg, Chief Minister of Sarawak. In his speech, he spoke on the importance of positive family values to shape children as well-rounded individuals

“This walk indeed is a golden opportunity for us to engage with people, parents, and educators as well as promoting love for our city and also promotes health and recreation. We appreciate Smart Reader Worldwide® effort in encouraging family to spent time away from modern technology and focus on quality time with the loved ones” he said.
Also present was the management of Smart Reader® Worldwide, Chief Executive Officer, Dato’Sri Dr. Richard Ong, Executive Director, Keefe Ong and Director of Development, Operations, Marketing and Publicity, Kalaichelvi Alagendra. They were accompanied by Operations and Business Development Manager (East Malaysia) of Aim Smart Academics Sdn Bhd, Norma John, The Waterfront Hotel Group General Manager, Richard Wong and PR and Partnership Manager of Plaza Merdeka Shopping Centre, Leovell Sam Avenido.
Keefe Ong expressed his appreciation towards the overwhelming support from parents and students of Smart Reader Kids® as well as members of public in Kuching.

During the event, Dato’ Sri Dr. Richard Ong, presented a mock cheque of RM7,000.00 to Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Ibni Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail as representative to Association of Professional Early Childhood Providers Malaysia (APECP).
The National One Child One Hope Education Scholarship Programme was established in line with Smart Reader® Worldwide’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative to provide quality
early childhood education to the less fortunate children. Through the One Child One Hope initiative, less fortunate students are able to access similar excellent educational experience. Since its commencement, the programme has funded more than 500 underprivileged children nationwide for their preschool education.
